During Covid, when the world’s anxiety levels were raised and people were trying their best to follow the ever-changing rules; whilst working adults were told to work from home and school-aged children were also told to stay at home to be schooled; I enrolled and completed six or so on-line college courses in mental health and counselling. I then signed up to a COSCA course at Strathclyde University, Glasgow. Again, this was delivered online. I really engaged with the subject matter and enjoyed the course. I then did a part-time Masters in Person-centred Counselling and Psychotherapy at Strathclyde University. I had my placement at the Strathclyde Counselling & Psychotherapy Research Clinic where I saw clients both online and in person. I now have my own private practice.

I see clients both in person, in my therapy room in the centre of Glasgow, and online. I am a person-centred counsellor but I also offer solution-focused brief therapy – usually around six sessions. I see clients from various backgrounds with a whole range of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, grief, anger, menopause, relationship issues, attachment styles and issues, trauma and lack of motivation.

I am boarding school experienced – I boarded from the ages of 8 – 18 and years later became a housemaster’s wife. I want people to know that they can talk to me about their boarding school experience(s) and I will really understand them. Every individual’s experience is unique but having first-hand experience of the institutionalism of boarding gives me a shared understanding of what boarding involves. I look forward to working with clients who want to explore and unpack their childhood/years of boarding.
